Transitional General Presbyter

Dear Friends at Mission Presbytery,
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord!
Thank you for an amazing welcome to Mission Presbytery!
My wife, Veronique, and I arrived on Saturday night, May 31, 2025. and within hours I experienced the vibrant spirit that defines this presbytery.
Sunday afternoon brought the pure joy of Rev. Lora East's installation at University Presbyterian Church. Participating in that festive, Spirit-filled worship service was exactly what my soul needed. To witness your collective delight as you welcomed this energetic young pastor into our midst revealed the heart of who we are together - a community that celebrates God's work among us.
The following day, on a Monday morning, I had the honor of attending the Commission on Ministry at Cross Roads Church. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly church administrator, Lisa Ringler, and the Rev. Brian Diebold. Lisa had cooked a delicious pulled pork meal for us for our lunch. Amazing!
Cross Roads Church was familiar to me, because that was the place I first met with the Transitional General Presbyter Nominating Committee. It felt like coming back full circle to return to the scene of first encounter with God’s grace at Mission Presbytery.

I was quite impressed to find out how far Elders have to drive just to attend meetings. There was one who drove more than four and a half hours to be present at the COM meeting. Many others drove distances that far exceeded my prior experience in ministry. The impression in my heart was that you are all highly dedicated and motivated disciples of Jesus Christ.
I always remind myself that Mission Presbytery is God’s mission. God has invited all of us to participate in God’s mission, right here at Mission Presbytery. This is Good News!
I give thanks to God for all of you. You have been toiling faithfully in God’s vineyards right here in south central Texas. God has been with you and will always be with us through all the joys and concerns which may face us.
As I join you on this sacred journey of faith, I ask for your prayers, and extend my prayers to God for you in your various ministry settings. Please feel free to reach out to any of us in the Presbytery office if you have any questions. We are here to support you in the ministries where you are called to serve.
Some people have stopped by the Presbytery office to say hello. I appreciate that. I look forward to meeting all of you as our journey together continues. The African proverb captures my experience. It says, “Walk fast if you want to walk alone. Walk together if you want to walk far.” I prefer to walk together with you, so that together, with God abiding with us, we may walk far.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, especially during this season of Pentecost!
Peace be with you!
Rev. Bobby Musengwa
