The minutes for this meeting will be ready soon. The following is not a comprehensive review.

The best part of every presbytery meeting is seeing each other! Hugs. Laughter. Good work. Delicious refreshments! Youth were at the meeting and spent the night at the church. They had a good time, and they prepared liturgy for Saturday morning’s worship service.

We thank Parkway Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi for being such good hosts. They were helpful, caring, and fed us well!

We did something different, yet not new for us, at this summer meeting. We convened the meeting at 2:00 p.m. and did all of the introductory business and heard a report from our Transitional General Presbyter Bobby Musengwa. He spoke of the churches he’s visited and preached in, meeting all kinds of people, and traveled many miles. Bobby lifted up the reality of struggles in the world and the church today, particularly one church in our presbytery which has had to take security measures because of threats. May we become the beloved community that Christ intends. Bobby has written applications for grants from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance over the last few months totaling $80,000. $80,000! He presented Lety Martinez, Director, Puentes de Cristo, a check for $10,000. More about the other recipients soon. 

We broke into workshops at 2:30 p.m. and had many to choose from. We thank the workshop leaders for their gifts and time. At 3:30 p.m. we gathered in the sanctuary to hear the master plan that the John Knox Ranch strategic planning team has been working on. It was an exciting presentation! Henry Owen, Director of JKR, encouraged the gathered to contact him and the team for presentations in your church. 

The Committee on Preparation for Ministry, led by Doug Dalglish, presented three stellar Inquirers who Mission Presbytery voted to Candidacy: 

• Morgan Reeves, Shepherd of the Hills, Austin; 

• Awrish Javed, Hope, Austin; and 

• Anabell (Ana) Rosales, Covenant, San Antonio.

Their presentations were excellent,  inspiring, and real. 

The Commission on Ministry report was given by Jon Watt, co-chair.

• The presbytery voted to elect an Administrative Commission (AC) to walk alongside St. Paul’s Schulenburg as the church has decided to transfer to the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO). Members of the AC are Rev. Cheryl Homsher, COM; RE Bonnie Wilkinson, FPC, Victoria, and a Mission Presbytery Trustee; Charley Kidder, RE New Hope, LeFeria, and RE Bill Livingston, Clerk of Session of the St. Paul’s congregation. 

• We welcomed two pastors back to Corpus Christi: Laura Neely as Member-at-Large, and John Roberts, returning to Grace, CC, as Pastor. 

We opened with worship on Saturday morning. Rev. Brian Diebold, Cross Roads, San Antonio, preached. The Youth at Presbytery The offering was designated to the Rainbow Room at Parkway. You may access the packet for the meeting for more information. 

The Stated Clerk, Laurie Palmer, announced that she is retiring at the end of 2026. Sheri Dittman presented the General Council report which outlined the path forward in the search for the next Stated Clerk. A nominating committee was elected: Rev. Erica Knisely, St. Andrew’s, Austin; RE Andy Anzaldua, El Divino Salvador, Corpus Christi, and Rev. Allen Mosiman, retired. 

Two Certified Ruling Elders were commissioned to serve congregations:

Kris Bair to Jackson Woods, Corpus Christi, and Sinton, Sinton

Kristine Shultis, to FPC, El Campo

The rest of the meeting was blessed with hearing good news from various committees. We have an embarrassment of riches in our people. The Connect Committee handed out Better Together Grants to churches engaged in outreach programs. We commissioned our General Assembly Commissioners who begin their work on June 22, 2026, and will work through July 2, 2026. Pray for them. Rev. Josh Robinson, Rev. Gini Norris-Lanes, Rev. Moderator Monica Smith led the business of the meeting with great aplomb!
