Stated Clerk’s Notes

Greetings, friends! 

We are reminded: 

⁴ There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. ⁵ There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. ⁶ There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. ⁷ Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. I Corinthians 12:4-7 

The Committee on Representation and Participation will soon begin its work for nominees to present to Mission Presbytery at its October 16-17, 2026, meeting at First Korean, San Antonio. We could use your help. 

First, read through the CORP brochure that is in this newsletter. (Thank you, Melody Gonzalez for creating it!) Who in your congregations have the gifts to serve on any of the commissions, committees, or task forces. For example, consider: 

● Are there church treasurers who would gift Mission Presbytery by participating in the Fiscal Oversight Committee? 

● Are there Ruling Elders who care for the health and well-being of the wider-church and would do well on the Commission on Ministry? 

● The Permanent Judicial Commission has two vacancies. It has not been called together in the time I’ve been here, but I cannot guarantee that is the case moving forward. Do you have lawyers in your congregations who could help in times of difficulty? 

● Do YOU have skills to share with the presbytery on any of the other commissions, committees, and task forces? 

Use the nomination form, also in this newsletter, to nominate people you believe could help Mission Presbytery with its ministry. Secure their permission to nominate them.

Holy One, thank you for this day, for each other, and Your gifts of sustenance and nurture. We lift up those affected (again) by last week’s flooding. What would You have us do? Thank You for frontline workers, for those whose calling is preparing to help people in times of great need. Thank You for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and its employees’ great care of the people under their charge.  Continue to lift up leaders in Mission Presbytery, that our whole selves would be open to
