Gracious and Merciful God,

Today we come to you once again with heavy hearts, grieving with those who have lost their precious family members in these devastating floods at Mission Presbytery and in the Synod of the Sun, especially in Kerrville, Kerr County, and surrounding areas.
Lord, wrap your loving arms around each grieving mother, father, child, and family member who is facing the unbearable pain of loss.
We pray also for the campers, the camp counselors, as well as the camp staff. We are grateful for their heroic actions in rescuing our sleeping children from certain death in the pitch darkness of the night.
Grant each one of these families and friends your peace that passes all understanding, and help them feel your presence in their darkest hours.
We especially lift up our brave first responders - the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, Texas National Guard, US Coast Guard, local, national, and international volunteers, as well as all emergency personnel who are risking their lives to save others.
Protect them, Lord, as they wade through dangerous flowing waters and face treacherous conditions. Give them strength when they are weary, courage when they are afraid, and wisdom in their decisions.
Comfort those who are searching for missing loved ones. Be with the rescue and recovery teams as they continue their grim missions.
Grant endurance to the medical, psychological, and spiritual teams caring for the injured and traumatized.
Remind us all, O Lord, that even in our deepest sorrow, you are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
You have promised to be with us to the very end of the age. We trust in your promises, O God. We believe that in life and in death, we belong to you, our Lord and Redeemer!
We pray all these in the name of Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord. Amen.
