Summary of the Stated Meeting of Mission Presbytery

Summary of the Stated Meeting of Mission Presbytery

June 19-20, 2025, at St. Mark, Boerne

Thank you to all the wonderful saints of St. Mark, Boerne, for hosting Mission Presbytery just a few days ago. We were welcomed, well taken care of, and left inspired! And once again, Rev. Dan Milford, Mission Presbytery Moderator, moderated us with great aplomb. 224 were in attendance, and $2,537.95 was collected during the offering on Saturday morning. The offering was designated for youth service projects in Mission Presbytery.

You can go here to read the minutes of the meeting: www.mission-presbytery.org

Here are some of the highlights of the meeting:

  • On Friday morning, 47 folks participated in the Rise Against Hunger service project. It was a fun, informative, and productive experience. 10,150 meals were packaged to be sent overseas for our food-insecure brothers and sisters. Many churches expressed interest in undertaking this project in their regions. Want to know more? http://bit.ly/440Ct9v

Rev. Patrick Dennis, Serve Committee, was the driving force behind this experience.

  • It was Youth at Presbytery! They spent the night at the church on Friday, during which they prepared for worship for Saturday morning. They participated throughout the service. On Saturday morning, they were commissioned to the Presbyterian Youth Triennium 2025 in Louisville, KY (July 28-31).

  • We had one corresponding member, Rev. Mitch Miller, Synod of the Sun Leader and Stated Clerk. He participated in the liturgy to welcome Bobby Musengwa as Transitional General Presbyter and updated us on the work and mission of the Synod. Mitch preached at New Braunfels, New Braunfels, on Sunday, June 21.

  • Rev. Bobby Musengwa was indeed welcomed to Mission. This was his first official meeting with us, though he was introduced at the March meeting. He’d been on the job for 19 days! Bobby gave his first report, he preached during worship on Saturday morning, and officiated the Table with the Rev. Ann Marie Quigley-Swanson.

  • The Committee on Preparation for Ministry brought several for Inquiry, Certified Ruling Elder training, and Candidacy. There was hope and joy throughout this report.

Enrolled as Inquirers:

Anabell Rosales; Covenant, San Antonio;

Nico Carrillo; San Pedro, San Antonio;

Morgan Reeves; Shepherd of the Hills, Austin

Tara Litton; Faith, Austin

Awrish Javed; Hope, Austin

Certified Ruling Elders

Jim Booth; First, Rockport

Danita Nelson; New Covenant Fellowship, Austin

Enrolled as Candidates

Colton Hedrick, Hope, Austin

Boram Choi, University, Austin

  • Regions spent some time in conversation courtesy of the Connect Committee. To read how they responded to the statement, “What we’d like to see,” see the full minutes on the website.

  • The Commission on Ministry brought Candidate Allen Roberts for examination for ordination to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament. His examination was sustained by Mission Presbytery. For more information about COM’s report, please see the full minutes.

The pre-presbytery workshop on rethinking how sessions do their work was wonderfully attended. We’re grateful for Rev. Michael East, as he traveled from Oklahoma to be with us.

  • The Connect Committee gave out Better Together Grants. The complete list is in…. the full minutes.

And so much more, y’all. Fiscal Oversight, Hispanic Ministries Mission Network, John Knox Ranch (having another stellar summer camp), General Council, Texas Presbyterian Foundation, Learn Committee (preaching seminar–look it up in the packet and the newsletter), and the Youth Connection Task Force.

We hope you’ll read the minutes.

We hope you’ll attend the next meeting on October 17-18, 2025, at Cross Roads, San Antonio.

The peace of Christ be with you.
