An Emerging Vision of our Core Values and Essential Functions:

We are Mission Presbytery...
building together healthy congregations and relationships (Ephesians 2:22);
partnering with one another in what we do better together (Philippians 1:3, 5 NIV);
so that we may send disciples in mission and service (Matthew 28:18-20, 25:31-46).

4 questions helped us focus:

  • What kind of people do we want to send into the world?
  • What kind of church builds those kinds of people?
  • What kind of leadership equips that kind of church?
  • What kind of Presbytery (structure, leadership & staff) sets free those kinds of leaders to equip that kind of church to build & send those kinds of people into the world?

We look at 5 marks of healthy congregations:

  • Authentic worship;
  • Deepening and growing in faith;
  • Connecting within & between congregations;
  • Sending to serve in the world; and
  • Inviting others into our faith community & inviting them to participate, which means being willing to be changed by new brothers & sisters.

4 criteria help us to engage our discussions in a practical way, as we evaluate what we need to keep doing & what we need to let go of:

  • Equipping healthy leadership;
  • Nurturing growth;
  • Being mutually accountable; and
  • Partnering with one another.

At our video conference September 11, 2010 we discussed our Emerging Vision and invited participants to “share their wisdom” by responding to the following questions:
