Our congregations in the Rio Grande Valley invite you to join them in taking a special offering during one of the next 3 or 4 Sundays.  The Stewardship Division supports this request and encourages your participation.

 

A Presbyterian Recovery Task Force has been organized among the Valley churches

• They are meeting with other faith-based organizations to identify and meet immediate needs.

• Two weeks after Dolly 1,500 homes were still flooded, and week long power outages have resulted in food spoiling.

• The Task Force directed the Presbytery to release $7,500.00 of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance emergency grant of $10,000.00 to provide food and shelter to families in need.

• “Loaves and Fishes” ministry in Harlingen is using their facilities to meet this need.

• Damage to homes and our churches is still being assessed.

• To date (8-5-08) storm caused damages are estimated at upwards of $750 million

• Long Term Recovery plans are also being made.
